The Office of Policy and Planning is currently hiring a Public Health Medical Administrator I, Trauma Mitigation and Response Chief.
About the Department
The Office of Policy and Planning (OPP) promotes public health policy priorities and supports CDPH capabilities for community health improvement, informed policy development, research and analysis, integrated planning, decision intelligence, lean transformation, and grants management. The OPP leads comprehensive assessment, long term strategic and health improvement planning to address current and emerging cross-cutting public health and equity priorities, conducts policy analysis, monitoring and impact evaluation, cultivates partnerships with health systems, academic partners and other sectors; facilitates accountability for effective and efficient public health infrastructure funding, supports organizational capacity building to foster a culture that encourages learning continuous improvement, and empowerment of CDPH staff.

Responsibilities:
- Serves as the Trauma Mitigation and Response Chief and will be responsible for the planning, administration, organization, and direction setting for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the department’s Trauma Mitigation and Response Plan.
- Leads CDPH’s trauma responsive culture transformation, operationalize the Trauma Mitigation and Response strategic plan and build capacity to create a sustainable framework in supporting CDPH in becoming trauma responsive and a healing environment
- Directs the department’s transformation plan and activities related to trauma-informed and trauma-responsive skills development and practices.
- Builds collaborations across sectors to address trauma, equity, psychological safety, and inclusion.
- Advises on trauma-informed policy, legislation, and system planning.
- Represents CDPH in multi-agency and national meetings.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, directing teams, programs, and/or initiatives,
- Knowledge of and experience in public health organizations, practices and administration, including strategic partnerships with state government agencies, local health jurisdictions, tribal and health organizations and communities
- Experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of public health curriculum, programs and/or interventions,
- Demonstrated experience in leading trainings, professional development programs and/or other educational sessions for public health or health care workforce,
- Demonstrated experience addressing trauma response and mitigation in the context of diversity, equity, and inclusion, encompassing engagement in diverse settings, effectively interacting with individuals from various cultural, social, and economic backgrounds to develop culturally competent programs, creation of inclusive environments that promote participation from all community members, particularly marginalized or underrepresented groups, and enhancing overall behavioral health outcomes.
- Familiarity with social determinants of health and their impact on behavioral health outcomes
