The Town of Johnstown, Colorado is actively hiring its first Emergency Management Coordinator to be part of our dynamic and passionate team. A strong blend of both residential and commercial identifies the Town as it continues to grow and develop in Northern Colorado. The position will operate primarily from the Larimer County Emergency Management Offices located in Johnstown at the 2534/Johnstown Plaza subdivision. This location includes other Northern Colorado Emergency Management Offices from which to share knowledge, experiences, and build meaningful relationships in planning and preparation for emergencies in our community.
Position Overview: This new position will be responsible for preparing, coordinating, implementing, and maintaining the Town's Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan. The incumbent's responsibilities include coordinating emergency operations with the two Johnstown Fire District(s), Weld County, and Larimer County governments, meeting with Town staff, representatives from other units of government and private stakeholders, and responding to emergency situations as a member of the Incident Command Staff, as necessary. The person in this role will also be responsible for administering and monitoring federal emergency preparedness grants.
Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate for this position will successfully work independently, is able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers, outside agencies and the public, communicates effectively and professionally with a variety of people in sometimes challenging situations, and has excellent organizational skills. A Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Fire Protection, Fire Science, Adult Education, Public Administration, or related field is required, with three years of progressive experience in public safety services and/or emergency management. Certification as a Certified Emergency Manager through the International Emergency Management Associates or the ability to obtain within 36 months of employment is required, along with CPR/First Aid and NIMS/ICS 11/200/400/700/800 certification. This position reports to the Deputy Town Manager.

Expected starting salary: $67,735 - $83,000 DOQ.

Requirements
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Fire Protection, Fire Science, Adult Education, Public Administration, or related field.
Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License and maintain a safe driving record throughout employment.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in public safety services and/or emergency management
Certification as a Certified Emergency Manager through the International Emergency Management Association or the ability to obtain within 36 months of employment
CPR/1st Aid certification within three (3) months of employment.
NIMS/ICS 100/200/300/400/700/800 certification.
Multilingual ability is desired.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
