Description


Emergency Management and Safety Director



Maricopa Community Colleges, a community college system across Maricopa County and the metro Phoenix, Arizona area, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for its next Emergency Management and Safety Director. This is an on-site leadership role.

Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) is one of the nation's largest and most innovative community college systems. Popularly known as Maricopa Community Colleges, the district comprises ten individually accredited colleges and 31 satellite locations serving approximately 100,000 students and employing over 10,000 faculty and staff. Since its founding in 1962, MCCCD has remained an essential resource for local communities in the Greater Phoenix Metro Area and a gateway to affordable higher education, particularly for disadvantaged, diverse, and first-generation students.

The director of emergency management and safety provides expertise and leadership in planning, developing, implementing, and assessing MCCCD emergency management readiness and recovery programs to mitigate loss and damage and facilitate business restoration and continuity. The director assures that the MCCCD risks are evaluated and mitigated at each location and that all MCCCD locations are ready to respond in practical, productive, and effective ways to emergencies. This position operates at a director level, overseeing the entire district with a discrete function decision-making authority to develop and implement comprehensive emergency management programs. The director exercises agility in both mindset and skills to communicate centralized plans, policies, and procedures across the district. This position also acts as the subject matter expert on emergency management matters for MCCCD.

The anticipated hiring range is $106,000 to $130,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in emergency management or a related field and six years of progressively responsible experience in emergency management in a complex, multi-site environment. Experience developing emergency preparedness strategies and COOPs and delivering emergency preparedness training to diverse audiences is also required. An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience, as described above, sufficient to successfully perform the job's essential duties, may be considered.
